Here at Fins Swimming Club, we believe that we have made a significant contribution to the local community within the past 12 months and have an established programme in place to continue this and develop it further to benefit more people in the future.
Here is a snapshot of the some of the things that Fins Swimming Club has been involved in within the past 12 months:-
·Bespoke and heavily subsidised school swimming programmes providing FREE pool time, reduced class sizes and maximum learning opportunity to 11 local schools.
·Free pool time and/or heavily subsidised teaching rates to a local “all inclusive” group providing an opportunity for those with various disabilities to benefit from swimming.
·Continual renovation to modernise the pool's plant equipment to further increase water quality and turnover to enable the pool to be used more heavily for the community.
·Facility for local children to carry out Duke of Edinburgh activities, work experience and training, often leading to employment opportunities.
·Exclusive use of the pool facilities to enable a local minority group to have the privacy they require in order for them and their children to learn to swim.
·Discounted intensive crash courses in order to facilitate the training of new swimming teachers and water assistants, therefore making swimming more achievable for many children.
·Vouchers donated for a week of intensive lessons to local charities/ schools/individuals for fundraising projects within the community.
·Delivering Water Safety Presentations to local schools to highlight the importance of learning to swim as a life-saving skill and being safe in and around water.
·Awards ceremony to recognise swimmers who have achieved their Stage 4 or above by inviting them up on stage and presenting them with their personalised certificate and badge.
It would be an incredible honour to receive this award and would ask that you please take a moment of your time to click on the link above and nominate Fins Swimming Club for “Sports Club of the Year”.
